SERVPRO understands the DIY homeowner who is willing to attempt any thing that shows up at your doorstep, but sometimes (as in this case) calling the professionals is the better option. When SERVPRO technicians arrived after a massive rainfall they found not only septic water which had backed up into the structure but a large amount of white powder mixed in. In attempt to DIY the homeowner battled the massive amounts of invading septic water by spreading lime powder throughout the affected area, which only increased the category from contaminated to heavily contaminated requiring additional protective and service measures and increased cost substantially.
